So I really liked getting to see all of Ryan Stegman’s designs for the new Scarlet Spider series on Comics Alliance. http://www.comicsalliance.com/2011/11/21/scarlet-spider-kaine-ryan-stegman-sketches/
My first choice out of all of those would be Ryan Stegman’s second favorite though. The one that looks like red venom. It’s streamlined and the spider on his chest is ACTUALLY scarlet!
Scarlet Spider is a hard character to redesign because without the hoodie, the webshooters and the diagonal spider, he’s not really the Scarlet Spider. So basically all I did was find a trendier jacket to give him and then keep Ryan’s black and red colors.
Although if I had to lose the jacket, I’d try to use Ben Reilly’s Spider-Man costume so you keep that connection to the Scaret Spider somehow.
I dunno, these both probably suck but I feel that they’re closer to the character.
